Welcome to Dubtrack.fm!
We are happy that you have joined us. Here is a guide on how to get started on Dubtrack.fm
- How do I get in the queue?
To play a song, click on the ‘Play’ button on the bottom left of the screen. You can search and add a song to your queue from YouTube or Soundcloud. You may add as many songs as you want to your queue. As long as you have songs in your queue, you will automatically be in rotation. The songs disappear from your queue once they have played, so when your queue is empty, you are, effectively, “removed from queue”. You can also be removed from the queue by clicking ‘CLEAR MY QUEUE’ at the top of your queue. From that window you can also add those songs to your Playlists that are to the right of the song listings.
- What is MY QUEUE vs. ROOM QUEUE?
MY QUEUE is the stash from which Dubtrack will pull a song when it is your turn to spin. It is specific for each room; for example, even if you leave the room to spin somewhere else, the songs you carefully chose for ‘Room A’ will still be in your queue when you return to ‘Room A’. You can re-order these songs by clicking and dragging. Whichever song is first will play.
ROOM QUEUE, on the other hand, is everyone’s first song from their personal queue, so you can see who will plays next and what they will play!
- How do I @mention someone?
Currently, Dubtrack does not support auto-fill for @mentions, so you must type the person’s entire name or click their name in chat (not their photo icon) to have an @mention inserted into the chat dialogue.
- Who is DJing?
Click the icon picture to the left of the song title at the bottom.
- How many people are in the queue?
You can look at the Room Queue to see not only how many people are in line to play, but also who they are and what they will play. Additionally, if you yourself have songs in your queue to play, you will see a small number above the play button on the bottom left. That number is an at-a-glance shortcut that represents how many people will play before your turn.
- How do I grab a song?
Click the heart icon on the bottom right, next to the up-vote and down-vote buttons.
- How to thumbs up? How to thumbs down?
Next to the heart icon on the bottom right, you will find an up arrow and a down arrow. These votes act as a combined score, so you cannot see how many individual up or down-votes a song has. The score doesn’t do anything currently, besides suggesting to the DJ how well-liked their song is.
- Can I auto-up-vote?
Use this awesome extension to automatically up-vote each song: DubX There are other useful features as well, such as full-screen video, work mode, and disabling background images.
- Who is in the room?
There is an icon on the top left of the chat pane. Users are ordered by how many “Dubs” they have. For now, you must click the pictures to see the name of the user. Be aware that until a user goes to a different room, they will remain in the population tab, even if they have left the site (so don’t assume the list is entirely accurate).
- What are Dubs?
You get a Dub when you play a song, when you up-vote a song, or when your song is up-voted. The points are not redeemable for any features yet. Your Dubs are specific to each room — the points you earn in ‘Room A’ will not show up when you enter ‘Room B’.
- How do I favorite the room?
For now, you can’t favorite a room. Please bookmark the link to visit your favorite rooms again.
- How do I find where my friends are? How do I edit song titles and playlist names?
These capabilities are not available yet, but they have been suggested to Dubtrack by various people, along with a whole slew of other recommendations. Stay tuned!
However, although there is no “friends list”, you can “follow” someone by clicking on their icon, then clicking the text that says “view profile”, and then pressing the “follow” button. This makes it easier to send a private message to that person when they are not around, but doesn’t yet do anything else.
